Qualified in 1991 from Newcastle University. Early jobs included training posts in Acute medicine and General Surgery in Durham and Carlisle before moving to Leeds University for a teaching job in Anatomy. There was then five years of working and studying in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sunderland and Newcastle before finally training in General Practice with a bit of Dermatology and ENT experience added in.
I have been a GP partner at Meanwood since 2002 and set up the Community Gynaecology Clinic here at Meanwood in 2004 because of my interest in Women's Health and Family Planning. I am married with 3 children and enjoy Pilates, walking and playing Contract Bridge for fun.

Registrars and Medical Students
Ours is a training/teaching practice. Our registrars, who are attached to our practice for up to 12 months are fully qualified and have a great deal of hospital experience.
A compulsory part of the assessment of GP Registrars is they have their consultations recorded on videotape.
You may be asked if you would mind having your consultation recorded. If you agree, you will be asked to sign a consent form before and after seeing the doctor. You may be assured that the video will be treated confidentially and will be viewed only by the doctors qualified in training and assessing other doctors, and these tapes will be erased after use.
We also teach 3rd year medical students on occasions throughout the year. They normally sit alongside a GP, but you are not obliged to have them in the room during your consultation.
